Guy Kawasaki (@guykawasaki) is an acknowledged Twitter / social networking guru. He was even invited to the annual QlikView convention (QlikView is an in-memory analytics tool), despite his tenuous connection to that discipline. Recently he posted a "How I Tweet"post, which he called an FAQ of sorts. The FAQ set forth some of his rationale and practice for Twitter use.His list brought to mind a number of possible knowledge engineering considerations impacting a major league Twitterer.
- Decision process for what to re-tweet
- Organization of marketing campaigns and their connection to Twitter content produced by himself and --significantly -- coordinated with his team
- Deciding which messages from his followed stream to select for further processing
- Different business rules for different kinds of inbound messages (@GuyKawasaki and @GuysReplies)
- Coordination with Kawasaki's other channels, including presentations, workshop
- Rules for hyperlink tracking and management
- Tweet style standards and best practices
It's doubtful this formidable Tweeting team is explicitly considering all these issues, but they are most certainly tripping over them from time to time.
